    • Main idea 2: Another factor is the increasing levels of poverty around the world.
      • Supporting idea:

        • When the economy is in decline and fewer jobs are available, crime rates naturally rise as a result. 
      • Example:  This has been exacerbated in the last 2 years as Covid-19 has decimated national economies and put millions out of work.

    • Main idea 1: Parents have to take more responsibility for their children’s actions. 
      • Supporting idea: 
        • They too should be punished if their children commit crime
        • Throughout education, the youth can realise their wrongful actions and be given opportunities to turn over a new leaf and transform themselves into useful members of society later in life.
      • Example: In Singapore, parents of juvenile offenders can be fined or even jailed for their children's crimes.
