IELTS TUTOR gợi ý bài tham khảo:
As the digital age progresses, the increasing reliance on computers and electronic devices for information has sparked a debate over the necessity of printed books, magazines, and newspapers, with some viewing traditional print media as obsolete while others argue for its continued significance. This essay will discuss both perspectives and argue in favor of the continued relevance of printed materials.
On the one hand, proponents of digital books argue that electronic storage offers unparalleled convenience and accessibility. Thousands of books can be stored on a single device, making it easy to carry an entire library in one's pocket. For instance, students can access textbooks, research papers, and novels from their tablets or e-readers without the physical burden of carrying heavy books. Another significant point is the environmental benefit. On the other hand, many, myself included, believe that printed books still play an important role in society. Firstly, not everyone adapts easily to reading on electronic devices. The elderly, for instance, are accustomed to printed books, magazines, and newspapers as their primary sources of information. A study conducted by Pew Research Center found that a significant percentage of adults aged 65 and older still prefer printed materials over digital ones. Moreover, internet access is not equally distributed worldwide. In many developing and poor countries, online services are limited to major cities. In remote areas without internet access, traditional printed books remain the primary source of knowledge. For example, in some mountainous areas in Vietnam, there are no signals for mobile phones, let alone the capability to download information.
In conclusion, while digital devices offer numerous benefits, I do believe that printed books, magazines, and newspapers still hold an essential place in our lives, particularly for those who are less adaptable to technology and those without reliable internet access.
