Many people argue about whether playing sports individually or in teams is more beneficial. I strongly believe that team sports are more advantageous due to their ability to foster friendships and develop interpersonal skills.

On the one hand, there are numerous justifications for why people favor playing sports alone. Firstly, some individuals prefer solo sports because they allow players to develop independence (sự độc lập: the ability to rely on oneself rather than others). In these sports, players need to make their own decisions, as there is no one to assist them during the game. For example, climbing (môn leo núi: an activity involving ascending rocks or mountains) demands that players navigate complex routes (lộ trình phức tạp: intricate paths or directions), choose suitable handholds, and create strategies without relying on teammates. Furthermore, solo sports make it easier to maintain a consistent (đều đặn: regular or steady) training schedule. When playing with others, it can be challenging to coordinate sessions that suit everyone’s availability. A runner, for instance, can use free evenings for quick jogs, achieving efficiency (hiệu quả: the ability to accomplish something with minimal wasted effort or time) in their training.

On the other hand, I am of the opinion that team sports provide unique benefits that individual sports cannot. Firstly, playing in teams offers participants a valuable opportunity to expand their network (mở rộng mối quan hệ: to build relationships with more people). For instance, a study in the "Journal of Sport and Social Issues" in 2020 showed how team sports helped refugees (người tị nạn: individuals who flee their home country due to conflict or persecution) integrate into society by forming friendships and learning cultural norms. Additionally, team sports promote the development of interpersonal skills (kỹ năng giao tiếp giữa cá nhân: the ability to effectively interact with others), such as teamwork (làm việc nhóm: collaborative effort by a group) and communication. These skills are not only beneficial in daily social interactions but also valuable in the workplace. For example, football players must collaborate to score goals, which mirrors teamwork in a corporate setting.

In conclusion, while individual sports may encourage independence and convenience, I firmly believe that team sports offer greater benefits by fostering social connections and developing interpersonal skills.
