  • Dạng 2 question có thể bố cục bài như sau:
    • Body 1: Trả lời câu hỏi 1 What are the effects on people living in these cities?
      • Main idea 1: More people strain existing infrastructure such as roads, public transportation, water supply, and sewage systems, leading to congestion, pollution, and deteriorating services.
        • Supporting idea:
          • As the population grows, more vehicles are on the roads, leading to congestion during peak hours.
          • This congestion slows down traffic flow, increases travel times, and reduces the overall efficiency of road networks.
        • Example: Mumbai, India, boasting a population exceeding 20 million, thrives as an economic hub, yet this rapid growth strains its infrastructure, notably evident in the crippling traffic congestion. The sheer volume of vehicles coupled with an insufficient public transportation system leads to gridlock during peak hours, resulting in excruciatingly long commute times that impact productivity and overall quality of life.>> IELTS  TUTOR  hướng  dẫn PHÂN TÍCH ĐỀ THI 30/5/2020 IELTS WRITING TASK 2 (kèm bài sửa HS đạt 6.5)
      • Main idea 2: The demand for housing rises, leading to increased property prices and rents, making housing less affordable for many residents.
        • Supporting idea: This can result in overcrowding, homelessness, and the displacement of lower-income residents to the outskirts of the city.
        • Example: The surge in economic activity in San Francisco, a technology and innovation hub, has attracted new residents, increasing demand for housing, yet the city's housing supply has failed to keep pace with this growth.
    • Body 2: Trả lời câu hỏi 2 What can be done to maintain the quality of life of these people?
      • Main idea 1: Governments should invest in expanding and upgrading infrastructure to accommodate the growing population, including improving public transportation systems, upgrading water and sewage treatment facilities, and expanding road networks.
        • Supporting idea:
          • As the population expands, there is a greater demand for infrastructure to support the increased number of people residing in urban areas.
        • Example:
          • In the 1960s, Seoul, South Korea, underwent rapid urbanization, straining its infrastructure as the population surged, leading to traffic congestion that hindered productivity and air quality, with limited and unreliable public transportation discouraging car-free lifestyles.
          • Recognizing the need for change, the Korean government embarked on a multi-decade infrastructure investment plan focused on expanding and upgrading Seoul's public transportation system, including building a comprehensive subway network, upgrading bus infrastructure, and introducing an integrated ticketing system to encourage ridership and improve mobility.
      • Main idea 2: Affordable housing programs can help address the housing challenges faced by residents, including subsidies for low-income households, incentives for developers to build affordable housing, and regulations to prevent speculation and price gouging in the real estate market.
        • Supporting idea:
          • Affordable housing programs are crucial in addressing housing challenges faced by low-income households who struggle to afford market-rate housing due to limited financial resources.
          • Subsidies provided through these programs help bridge the gap between household income and housing costs, ensuring access to safe and stable housing.
        • Example: The Austrian capital, Vienna, stands out for its successful approach to affordable housing.  Over 60% of Vienna's residents live in publicly owned or subsidized housing.

The rapid population growth in many cities poses significant challenges for both residents and urban infrastructure. As more people move to urban areas, the increased demand for resources and services frequently results in a decline in living conditions; however, various solutions can be implemented to address these issues effectively.

There are various issues arising from this population boom. A primary consequence is the heightened demand on current infrastructure, including roads, public transit, and utilities. For example, Mumbai, India, with over 20 million residents, experiences extreme traffic congestion due to the rising number of vehicles, especially during rush hours. This traffic jam not only extends travel times but also worsens air quality, negatively affecting public health and overall living conditions. Moreover, as urban areas expand, the need for housing increases, resulting in surging property prices and rents. In San Francisco, the influx of tech employees has led to soaring housing costs, forcing lower-income families to relocate to the suburbs and causing overcrowding and homelessness in certain neighborhoods.>> Form đăng kí giải đề thi thật IELTS 4 kĩ năng kèm bài giải bộ đề 100 đề PART 2 IELTS SPEAKING quý đang thi (update hàng tuần) từ IELTS TUTOR

To preserve the living standards for city inhabitants, several solutions are available. First, governments need to allocate funds to expand and improve infrastructure to cater to the growing population. For instance, in the 1960s, Seoul, South Korea, encountered similar issues due to rapid urban growth. In response, the government launched a comprehensive investment strategy to upgrade its public transportation system, leading to enhanced mobility and less congestion. Additionally, programs for affordable housing are crucial in tackling the housing crisis. By providing financial aid to low-income families and encouraging developers to create affordable housing options, cities can alleviate the pressure of rising property costs and ensure stable housing for all residents.

In summary, although rapid urban growth poses various challenges, targeted investments in infrastructure and affordable housing can greatly improve the living standards for city dwellers.
